By providing improved protection for all reinforcing cords, the Poly-V Belt's design provides an equitable distribution of load. The Poly-V Belt also serves as a guide for a belt tensioner or idler pulley. A Poly-V belt drive takes up less room and allows the belt to be stretched without breaking under high stress. Many regular belts are replaced with a single, broader poly-V belt.
